World premiere of the work Trace II: Vestigium, for trio (violin, cello and piano), commission of the Madrid City Council and the Residencia de Estudiantes. The program includes also the work Trois éclats de matière sonore: résonance, texture, ostinato, for chamber ensemble and works of Mathias Spahlinger, Alberto Bernal and Armando Luna. Arbos trio, Erik Drescher, Carlos Gálvez and Rafael Gálvez, perfomers. 19:30 hrs.

6th. Conference about the theme The own and the foreign in the contemporary art creation at the Madrid Book Fair, Pavillion of the Madrid City Council, Madrid, Spain. Iván Ferrer Orozco

As composer in 2002 he received the first composition prize of the National Conservatory of Music of Mexico, in 2003 he was guest composer at the Conservatory of Music of Montreal and in 2004 he was resident composer of the Contemporary Ensemble of Montreal. His works have been performed in several festivals and concert series and by ensembles and soloists from Italy, Mexico, Canada, US, Germany and Spain. From 2005 until 2008 he was resident composer at the Spanish cultural institution Residencia de Estudiantes in Madrid. In 2008 he was resident composer at the Camargo Foundation in Cassis, France and in 2009 at the I-Park Foundation in Connecticut, USA.

As conductor in 2000 he won the second prize at the National Young Conductors Competition in Mexico, since then he has an active career as conductor with some of the major orchestras and ensembles of Mexico. Specially dedicated to the contemporary repertoire he has made more than thirty world and national premieres.

He has been recipient of grants from the National Fund for Culture and Arts, the National Fine Arts Institute and the National Arts Center of Mexico, the Council for Culture and Arts of Quebec (Canada), the Madrid City Council (Spain), the National Youth Institutes of Mexico and Spain and the Academia Europaea.

His works have been recorded by SONDOS, harps duet and the Mexican clarinetist Alejandro Moreno.

In 2009 he was curator of the Ars Automata Project as part of the V Exhibition of Sound and Interactive Art of InSonora in Madrid, Spain, and winner of the annual Call for Scores of the San Diego New Music Festival and the NOISE Ensemble.

Actually he is composer in residence at the Arts Center of SanlLuis Potosí in México as part of the program Artistic Residences for Art Creators of Iberoamerica and Haiti in Mexico of the National Fund for Culture and Arts (Mexico) and the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation (Spain).

Iván Ferrer Orozco studied composition and orchestral conducting at the National Conservatory of Music and at the National Arts Centre of Mexico. He made further studies in composition and conducting in Mexico, Spain, US, Holland, Germany and Canada.

Iván Ferrer-Orozco lives and works in Madrid, Spain.
